EVIDENCE OF ABM LAUNCH
SARY-SHAGAN MISSILE TEST CENTER LAUN COMPLEX B, USSR
1. (S/D) SIGNIFICANCE: POST ABM LAUNCH ACTIVITY IS OBSERVED AT
SARY-SHAGAN M1 LUNCH COMPLEX B.
2. (S/D) REMARKS: A BLAST MARK IS EVIDENT AT ABOVE GROUND LAUNCH
POSITION M AND A PROBABLE EMPTY DARKENED ABM-1B GALOSH
CANISTER HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM LAUNCH POSITION C3 AND IS BEING
TRANSPORTED FROM THE SITE. THE EMPTY CANISTER IS ON A
TRANSPORTER WHICH IS STOPPED AT THE SITE SECURITY ENTRANCE
APPROXIMATELY 0.5 NM EAST OF THE LAUNCH AREA. LAUNCH
PREPARATIONS HAVE BEEN IN PROGRESS AT LAUNCH COMPLEX B SINCE
AND HAVE INCLUDED ACTIVITY AT BOTH THE ABOVE GROUND
LAUNCH POSITIONS AND THE TWO ABM SILOS. THE GALOSH CANISTER
REMAINS ENGAGED IN THE LAUNCHER AT POSITION C1, HOWEVER, IT HAS
BEEN LOWERED TO THE HORIZONTAL POSITION.
