1. The purpose of this memorandum is to provide you
information concerning the Office of Communications (OC)
programming for the FY 1981 communications requirements submitted
by the DDA offices in references A through G. The requirements
have been consolidated into a single listing, using the guidelines
contained in reference H. The consolidated listing is forwarded
as the attachment. Immediately following each requirement in the
consolidated listing is a brief description of the communications
services and hardware. required to. satisfy the requirement and,
noted in parenthesis, the level at which the resources were
programmed. (U)
2. Most of the DDA offices' communications requirements
were programmed in the New Support Requirements resources package
within the Other Communications Activities decision unit.
Where resources were programmed in another resource package or
decision unit, it is so indicated in the consolidated listing.

Therefore, a number of the DDA offices' requirements will not be

Requirement: Provide data communications between the fifth
and eighth floors in the Ames Building for
interconnection of the Correspondence Branch
Vydec machines and the Reality minicomputer.

Requirement: Provide a data communications circuit on the
fifth floor of the Ames Building for connecting
the bar stripe reader to the Reality mini-
computer.

Headquarters and several outlying buildings to

Comment Secure circuits can be provided for the SACS
requirement, if necessary. The capability to
provide such service at most of the Headquarters
area outbuildings currently exists. An OC
representative will contact OS in the near
future to ensure that all technical details of

established communications networks. The
already has
an AUTODIN data interface and, when installed,
the OL minicomputer will have access to AUTODIN
via DATEX. Preliminary planning for the OL
minicomputer-DATEX link has been completed.
18. Office of Logistics
Requirement: Provide for relocation of telephones, secure
and non-secure, nd installation of four data
terminals at thel 25X1

new office space (approximately 85,000 square
feet) that the Office of Logistics is in the
process of identifying for future occupancy.

service, modems and multiplexers, bulk
encryption equipment, communications grids,
telephone switch and phones, CER equipment and
shielded enclosure, emergency generator, and
installation contract services and hardware.

21. Office of Data Processing
Requirement: Provide communications support for installation
of five new ODP front-end processors.
Resources Installation equipment including patch panels
and RFI racks, and miscellaneous hardware.

22. Offices of Finance, Logistics, and Medical Services
Requirement: Provide continued OC participation in the CRAFT
project so as to program communications
resources as the system develops.
Comment As you are aware, OC has been an active
participant in the long-range planning and
development of the CRAFT system. OC has a
representative on the CRAFT Working Group, has
a commitment to provide system maintenance in
the field, and is currently assisting with the
installation of two CRAFT testbed systems.
Furthermore, OC initiatives such as SKYLINK,
AFT, and a new project to develop an advanced
communications information switching system
play an important part in achieving CRAFT
objectives. Through efforts such as these, OC
plans continued support for full implementation
and utilization of the CRAFT system to meet
future user requirements.
23. Office of Medical Services
Requirement: Provide secure voice service between OMS Head-
uarters and four overseas stations - F -

Comments In view of ent SK LINK installation

required time frame. However. OC records
indicate that both

military AUTOSEVOCOM network. An OC
representative will contact the OMS Communica-
tions Coordinator to discuss the latter and
provide contact instructions if it is determined
to be a satisfactory alternative.

24. Office of Data Processing
Requirement: Provide communications support for installation
of data equipment for the CAMS system including
15 CRT terminals, three read-only printers, and
five graphic terminals.
