The reduction of $1.21 million in the Other Communications Activities Decision Unit eliminates the following programs and projects planned in FY-1980. Many of the items were contained in the OC budget at the request of, and in support of, other Directorates and other Offices in the DDA. a. New ORD data installations in the Ames Building. b. New OTS data installation in the Central Building. c. New secure voice service to OSO contractors. d. New communications support and services to OCR's commercial and PLATO V data base. e. New communications support and services to NFAC's ORPA external unclassified terminals. f. New communications support, urchase installation of an 25X1 g. A backup data wire line service between Headquarters and P&PD. h. Purchase of six fire detection and alerting systems for overseas posts. X1 X1 X1 j. Transmission security vulnerability studies k. Telephones - The reduction of $244,000 in Unclassified Telephones will require disconnection of nearly phones in the Headquarters area, plus other severe measures. F 2. The reduction of $440,000 in the 0 Decision Unit results in elimination of the following items. a. Building security and fire alarms systems replacement. b. Fire sprinkler systems for c. Reroofing of Building 0 d. Repaving of damaged roads and sidewalks. e. Drop ceilings, sound roofin and new lighting in rooms f. Storage building g. Replacement of air conditioning units. h. Maintenance of the security and radio equipment. 0 3. The Office of Communications is notifying customers, .*as appropriate, of the budget cut impacts. A memorandum for your signature to all Directorates and Heads of Independent Offices under the DCI complex will be forwarded shortly identifying, the quantity of phones that will require disconnection in FY-1980 on a ratio basis and requesting the other Directorates and Independent Offices to identify which telephones may be disconnected at the- beginning of FY-1980. The memorandum will also state a new restrictive policy regarding installations and relocations of telephones in FY-1980. 5. OC will also prepare a listing, by Office, of proposed telephone reductions within the DDA for your approval. 6. No charges will be incurred in disconnecting telephones.
