Intelligence Information Handling
Committee
REFERENCE : My Memo to D/OCIS, dtd. 19 April 1978,
Same Subject, (COMP 78-0409)
1. The referent memorandum indicated that the
Deputy Director of Central Intelligence (DDCI) assigned,
on a temporary basis, Mr. Clifford D. May, Jr. as the
CIA member of the DCI Intelligence Information Handling
Committee (IHC) and Mr. Harry C. Eisenbeiss as alter-
nate CIA member. Messrs. May and Eisenbeiss were to
assist in the development of a new IHC charter and
in the further definition of the role of your new
office then called the office of Community Informa-
tion Services (OCIS). Upon completion of their work,
they were to submit recommendations to the DDCI regarding
permanent CIA membership on the IHC, taking into
account the projected future efforts of the IHC and
the nature of the support structure which the permanent
CIA member will require.
2. Because the initial work of the temporary
CIA members is nearing completion and because of the
recent reassignments of key CIA personnel, the DDCI

has designated permanent CIA members on the IHC.
The DDCI appointed Mr. Bruce T. Johnson, Director
of Data Processing as the permanent CIA member of
the IHC and Mr. Harry C. Eisenbeiss, Director of
Central Reference, as alternate CI.A member. Mr.
Eisenbeiss will participate fully with Mr. Johnson
in IHC proceedings.
