Absence while representing the United States in 2 certain athletic competition 3 "(a) An employee (as defined in section 2105 of this 4 title) is entitled to leave without loss of, or reduction in, pay, 5 leave to which he is otherwise entitled, credit for time or 6 service, or performance or efficiency rating for each day, not 7 in excess of 90 days in a calendar year, in which he, as a 8 member of the United States team, is preparing for or partici- 9 gating in athletic competition on the world, Pan American or 10 Olympic level in a sport which is contested in either Pan 11 American or Olympic competition. 12 "(b) For purposes of subsection (a), the term `United 13 States team' includes any coach or athlete who is a member 14 of the official delegation of the United States to world, Pan 15 American, or Olympic competition. 16 "(c) The Office of Personnel Management is authorized 17 to issue regulations for the administration of this section.".
