Action Requested: None; for information only. 2. On 18 July Director of Logistics James McDonald and two other STAT witnesses of Logistics, an Office of Security, will appear before the Subcommittee on Federal Spending Practices and Open Government, Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs. We have been advised by the staffers that the first day of the hearings, the 18th, would be a fact finding session with the following two days being designed to prove criminal culpability on the part of certain GSA employees. The attached statement accurately reflects the Agency's dealings with GSA concerning the purchase of safes from Hillside Metal Products (now Art Metal). Other Agencies to testify include: State, Agriculture, Commerce and Bureau of Standards. The statement which was coordinated with OGC, PA and IG will be submitted for inclusion into the record and the staff indicated that we would be involved for no more that ten minutes answering questions from Subcommittee Chairman Lawton Chiles.
