SUBJECT Visit by Congressman Charles G. Rose III
(Dem. NC)
1. I am pleased to report that Congressman Charles G.
Rose III (Dem. NC) has accepted our invitation, forwarded
.through the Legislative Counsel, to speak at ODP's annual
Office Conference on 9 May 1979 at 1300 hrs. in the audi-
torium. Jim Taylor suggested that we also invite him to
join you and other Agency Executives for lunch before his
talk. We have done so, and. Congressman Rose has accepted.
His Staff Director, Dick Giza, will also join us. We have
reserved the Director's Dining Room for noon, and I have
invited Jim Taylor, Fred Hitz, Danny May, and my Deputy,

2. Congressman Rose is in a unique position to speak
to us about the Agency's and Community's use of computers
because of his Chairmanship of the House Subcommittee, Policy
Group on Information and Computers, and his Chairmanship. of
the Subcommittee on Evaluation of the House Permanent Select
Committee on Intelligence. He is a frequent and noted speaker
at data processing conferences, most recently delivering the
keynote address at the Fifth Annual Federal Data Processing
Exposition in Washington, D.C. Many of my staff have heard
him speak and recommend him highly. We are looking forward
to his addressing our annual conference. We understand that
he is particularly interested in being able to speak'to work-
ing level computer people in CIA. We expect to fill the
auditorium.

in your hands by 4 May. I know your schedule on 9 May is
tight and I appreciate your taking the time to join us. If
there is anything I c,an do to make our lunch with Congressman
Rose more pleasant and productive, please let me know.
