SUBJECT : Revision of DCID 1/5 (U)
1. Attached is a. draft DCID 1/5, National Intelligence Warning.
This draft is intended to replace the Directive of 18 May 1976 entitled
Strategic Warning. It reflects the establishment of a National Intel-
ligence Officer for Warning by the Director of Central Intelligence
on 1 October 1978. (S)
2. This draft was prepared by the Warning Working Group. In
order to achieve full Community concurrence at the working level,
representatives of those agencies not represented on the Working Group
are invited to join its next scheduled meeting, at 1315 Friday, 16 March,
in Room 7E62, CIA Headqu~,~rters. The first item on our agenda will be
consideration of the DCID draft. (U)
3. In the absence of major disagreements, the draft as revised
will then be recirculated for formal NFIB concurrence in April. (U)
by Wednesday, 14 March. (U)
