Eli T DN, ^n;D Vi-L_ARE `- PUB-' !C NATIONAL IN!; "'TUTFS OF HEALTH ----___-_ T 20014 I` The Honorable Stansfield Turner Director of Central Intelligence Central Intelligence Agency Washington, D.C. 20505 Under the provisions of Public Law 95-622 (approved November 9, 1978), p. 3435, and as amplified by supporting statements in the Congressional Record, October 14, 1978 (pp. H 13573, H 13574), the Secretary of HEW was directed to conduct a comprehensive analysis of all research conducted or supported by the Federal Government in ionizing radiation, with emphasis on human health and related biological aspects and with particular attention to the effects of low-level ionizing radiation. Copies of the documents cited are enclosed. The analysis will be performed by the National Academy of Science and is scheduled to begin July 1, 1979. In light of the Congressional mandate, I am writing-to you to inquire whether any research activities your organization conducts, either in-house or by contract or grant with non-Federal institutions or organizations, a].1 wit-in the scope of the statute.
