I think I had better beg off from the CIA talk
on 17 November. I have a firm commitment to
speak at the Library of Congress on October
29th -- you and Pat will get an invitation
soon -- and I may also address the military
historians at the Naval Academy on October
25th. This spate of talk comes after years of
silence, and will no doubt consume what words
I've got, for the moment. Moreover, I may
have to go to California-in November on the
WINDS OF WAR serial project.
Your program is an ongoing one, and I'm sure
a slot for me will open up some time in 1980.
Sarah and I will be in Palm Springs in Decem-
ber and January, but by March we should be
back here.
