Gel .nde" at Dresden, staffed by the firm of BAckner & Danis. - Two now gas t utbines are under developmentibere; the first one is in the test bed, the other, on which work was onlry started in early 1 :ay l9/,-,8,,, is in its initial stage. Turbine No 1. ~oiYOp :A i..~i. 2. The specifications of this turbine are. not known. The turbine casing and in block are of a now welded construction instead of grey cast iron. The compressor is of "Silomin-Garr 4 sd'.* The Marine PAffeld of BrJxckner i_. Kenis was destroyed in mid. April 1948, and a new test bed was then built in the generating station on the "Industries Gelllinde" . 4. On this new test bed the turbine was tested in I-gay 1948, but a bearing broke at 7,800 r.p.m.; it is now being repaired. 5. During this test, it was also found that at speeds over 5,000 r.p.m., the compressor bearings failed to contain the pressure of 4 atmospheres which is an absolute not up in the lubricating system., and leaked badly. Irn addition, experiments with combustion &ianbers with Jets of 0.3 ma have boon conducted at 240 atm.., using 3 oviet tar oil as fuel. Turbi ne No 2-. 6. This turbine is being designed for use in locomotives. It is to develop 21,000 h.p., of which 17,000 h.p. are provided by the Compres or. 7. Altogether there are 2,000 b2ndes mounted on 12 vaaae.rime0 The size of each blade is 320 mm (sic) and the edge in curled over. The blades are being made on a newly-installed autome.tio machine tool with oil pressure control .system. About 100 non are employed on designing and .building this turbine.
