SSA to the German Economic Commission (DWK) that, for the
time being, only the roadway but not the railroad track
of the bride is to be reconstructed. The ordered ednstruc-
tion work is to fake the bridge serviceable for heaviest
tanks and Is scheduled to be co:.Lpleted by a becember 1999
at the latest.

The bridge is a two-lane railrca d bride over the Elbe
River on the STENB1L- L-1TfENBERGE line (one track on each
lane).
The bride section over the navigable charmel of the River
was demolished in 1945. The tvi lanes of the bridle were
reconstructed in a makeshift may at the end of 1948. Rail-
road operations were resu.ned on the track of the northern
bridge 1 ane, the southern lane, which had a plank floor,
was released to road traffic. (see A.-nex 2). In the ordered
reconstruction work this plank road, now three meters wide,
is to be widened cnd increased to make it serviceable for
heaviest tanks (sne Annex 3).
