In 1948 the construction of a 46-ton tank to be powered by a 1,000 h.p. engine
was contemplated. A prototype of this tank was to be built by the Skoda Works
in collaboration with the Ceskomoravska Kolben Danek -(CKD) plant under the
guidance of the Military Technical Institute (TTU). The engine built by Skoda
for the tank was to be a 24 'cylinder, x-type engine, cooled by means of a
ventilator to each of the four banks of cylinders.
2. The chief CED deplaper working on the tank prototype was Ing. Burin, a Russian
emigre) about 50 years old, married and living in Prague-Bulovka. Although not
a Commnnist, he 00-operates with them. Surin is considered to be the foremost
tank designer in the Communist-dominated part of the world.
