Approved For Release 2002/08/15 : CIA-RDP83-00415R008800160004-3 SECRET German Democratic Republic 25X1A FDD Abstract o ECONOMIC INFORMATION ON THE MAIN DEPARTMENT FOR SHIPBUILDING (28 pp; German; 25X1 25X1X 25X1A This document consists of four reports. The first, 23 pages, dated 31 May 1951, is a report by the Main Department for Shipbuilding of the Ministry of Machine-Building on the East German shipbuilding industry, covering the period 1 Jan-30 April 1951. Details are given on quota fulfillments of the economic plan for the period mentioned above, as well as for a one-year period ending 30 April 1951, including percentage figures, broken down by totals for the Main. Department for Shipbuilding, for the VVW (Federation of People-Owned Shipyards), and for the main shipyards. Figures are given in standard units (Messwerte) for gross production and in marks for goods production. Fulfillment figures for the reparation quotas of the economic plan are also given, broken down by units of the types of ships; also, an analysis of the fulfillments; details on the utilization of shipyard capacities; investment details, broken down by shipyards; an analysis of difficulties encountered by the individual shipyards; reports on the labor situation, the availability of raw materials, the financial situation, the situation in regard to work norms, labor agreements, cooperation with activists and technicians, including the status of individual contracts, and development of a labor cadre force; a critique on the-- situation in the Main Department forR Shipyards; and a report pointing out the main points of emphasis in the shipbuilding industry (e.g., fulfillment of quotas, construction work, etc.). The second part, 1 page, dated 31 March 1951, is a manpower plan in tabular form, showing planned and actual labor forces in the individual shipyards. The third part, 1 page, dated 10 May 1951, is a report by the Main Department for Shipyards on decisions made during a conference on 17 April 1951, dealing with the transfer of surplus labor. Participants in the conference were: Keller, of the State Planning Commission; Karl, of the SED Land Headquarters of Mecklenburg; Krueger, Hoelter, and Mueller, of the Ministry of Labor; and Wolf, of the FDGB Headquarters.
