the yard formerly known as"Schiffsbergung Stral-
sun re Ship Salvage Company) or "Stadtwerft" (Municipal Shipyard) is now
called the "Schiffsbau and Reparaturwerft Stralsund" (Stralsund Shipbuilding and
Repair Yard). The yard employs about 300 workers, but for about four weeks has
not had a single naval construction engineer. It is rumored that the plant is to
work in the future exclusively on the shipbuilding program for the Naval Police.

the 1951 program, calls for the construction of 20 tuggers which will be equipped
as refrigerator ships, The refrigeration installations are to be furnished by
Kaelterichter in Berlind,
the 20 meter launch "Luuune" was seen at the 50X1-HUM
Peenewer (Feene Shipyard) in Woigast with Naval. Police personnel aboard; It could
not be determined whether they were crew or simply a guard detail. Two cutters
built by the "Yachtwerft" (Yacht Shipyard) in Berlin were at the yard for repair,
and four seiners and four luggers were being outfitted. Two hundred workers from
the Boizenburg shipyard were loaned to the Peenewerft in order to complete the work
on these last eight vessels by the deadline set,

the "Staatswertt" in Stralsund employs about 50X1-HUM
50L-. ers. IT, Is engaged in making repairs on the GDR's first freighter, the
"Vorwaorts", which suffered damage on its trial run. Also at the yard are a
former Danish buoy boat or coast guard vessel about 60 meters long, which was
raised, and a 50-meter vessel on which repair work has not yet started. Plans
are being made to build a lateral slip 60 meters long to increase eonet,'n 4?n
facilities.
