Political organization of the faculties
Every university course, which includes several hundred
students (more than 500 in medicine, for example), is
divided into groupe of 50 students.
Each group elects a secretary and a vice-secretary, en-

Compulsory for all students twice a month to
- discuss school problems,
- deal with ptilitical issues,
- criticize the political attitudes of professors and
students.

Many students are agents for the U.D,B. and keep an eye
on thetpolitioal activity of their schoolmates.
SubJects common to all the faculties
- Foreign langynges: 2, of which 1 must be Russian.
- Marxist-Leninist doctrine; the course lasts a year.

- Premilitary ambigua*: lasts 4-5 years, depending on the
faculty.
Professor, for the first year, is an infantry major, for-
merly an Officer in the Royal Army. Arms in general, the
MAUSER and the
91 rifles in particular, are 50X1 -HUM
dealt with in the first year. Squad formations are also
dealt with theoretically, and practical applications are
carried out in the field.
In the second and third years, various questions with regard
to weapons, organization, tactics and strategy, regulation,
etc., are developed..
After the third year the courses take a different turn
depending on the arm and specialization to which the student
is assigned, on the basis of the faculty he attends.
Medical students in their third and fourth year study

Of the engineering students some specialize in tanks,
getting practice also in driving them; others, assigned

fire any, however).
In the courtyard of the encineering school there are 2
SHERMAN type tanks and some unspecified pieces of artillery.
In the premilitary indoctrination course are also included
2 hours a month of politico-military lessons (for example
on the difference between armies of capitalistic countries
and those of people's democracies).

Every year the students must mmisigm exams which are par-
ticularly severe.
Enrolment in the University
All students who have completed their u-Ter middle studies
can go on to the University. They pay no fee to attend
the University.
Subsidies
Subsidies of from 1000 to 4000 dinars a month are granted
to needy students.

Prepared by Yugoslav professors and printed in ZIOBEB by
the "TIPOGBAFIA STUDENTESCAu 5tudent Pres_i7.
Distribution is free but in insufficient qpantity; many
students must do without.
Laboratory esoi.pment
The physics and chemistry laboratories of the University
are now well equipped, following the arrival
of scientific instruments, including very modern
microscopes.
Medical assistance
Medical visits and hospitalization are free.
