CONSTRUCTION OF 4k RAIL LINK NEAR WOSTERRMARK (20 pp, 1 sketch; German; August 1951)

Comments The order for the construction of the rail link was given by
the BCC.
The document consists of photostat copies of typewritten information
regarding the construction of a connecting rail curve at Wustermark. The
information-was compiled by the Central Designing Office of the German
Reiohsbahn and forwarded to the Reiohsbahn Directorate Berlin on 31 August
1951. The document reveals the following particulars about the projects
The purpose of the project is to provide a rail link which will make it
possible to direct trains from the German Democratic Republic going in
westerly direction to the northern outer beltline around Berlin, thereby
bypassing Berlin, and vice versa` The curve will connect the Berlin-Stendal
railroad line with the Wildpark-Nauen line, It will branch off the
Wustermark-Nauen sector at km 82.4, z will run parallel to it in southerly
direction for about 500 meters, will then turn westward with a radius of
500 meters, will reach the Berlin-Stendal line approximately at km 31.47
and will join it at km 32.
The cost of the project will be 600,000 Deutsche marks. The project has
a high priority and is to be completed by 31 December 1951. It will require
1.8 kilometers of track, type 8 49 or 8d or 151, which will have to be
dismantled from a still unspecified less important line.. There follow
detailed cost estimates.
A sketch of the projected ourvd, soils 111,000, dated 17 August 1951,
and a profile diagram are appended.
