The first page of this 9-page report is a brief summary in English of the attached
document.
The remaining 8 pages,which are carbon ,op of the original document, furnish the
following information:
1. A contract, dated 4 October 1951, oLO in Chemnitz by the Swedish finr_. Total value of the contract: 14,237,20 Swedish
crowns. The transaction is part of the DIA-)0Ub overall barter agreement. The price is fob
Sassnitz and includes packing and insurance. i .nner of payment : an irrevocable, undividable,
transferable letter of credit which will be opened by the DIA for 1achines with the Svenska
Trade Bank in Stockholm under the DIA-SUKA;: barter clearing account. The usual clauses on
arbitration, quality, etc. are included.

2, On 6 September 1951 European Trade-. submitted the following offers to the D1.A for
Precision Instruments (items to be deliver--,d by Linden and Lindstroem in (Ioeteborg): Band blade
saws for woocrorking (specifications included) at a total net value of 75,958.89 Swedish mm
crowns (gross amount: 101,031,25; discount: 25,072.36); metal-hand-saw blades made of high-
speed steel? with a single cutting edge, a. 2,50 per dozen, and metal-hand-saw blades made of
carbon steel, with double cutting edge, at, 4:+,40 Swedish crowns per gross (exact specifications
included). Total net amount of bid: 11261115
Swedish crowns (gross amount: 145,;,~6O; discount:
19,125). Grand total of items offered: 20',093459 ;Jwedish crowns. Price is fob Sassnitz and
includes packing.
On 11 September 1951 the DIA for ~'res:~siorz Instruments and European Trading in >tockholm
concluded a contract as per above specifi(-atio as in the total amount of 202,093, 39 Swedish
crowns. The part of the contract included in tills A document does not indicate whether payment
'will be made under the DIA-,' UKAB arr em _nts. Other clauses of the contract are phrased
..n the customary manner.
3. A second supplement (date not inda_cated) to the contract of 29 December 1949 between
e DIA (then DAHA) and European Trading.
Instead of the 106`772 tons of 11: .f, fiber paper at 80,400 Swedish crowns(for which
racts had been concluded in the first supplement) only 97.262 tons at 73,238.:4 Swedish
are to be shipped. The difference of 7,161.71 Swedish crowns is to be appl d against
ct for 1,390 kilograms of tool steel, :Swedish qualit~r. UHB VALAND 1, annealed, 1.5
dish crowns. The balance of 5,870.51 Swedish crowns will be drawn from the
