Food, Beverages, and Restaurants contains information on the development of the food
industry between 1945 and 195Ointhe aims and responsibilities of the industry under the
Five gear Plan, and,.n trade union activities within the industry. The booklet is illustrat-
ed with photographs of industrial plants and equipment, and with pictorial graphs.
2) A 219-page publication, No 4 of Sc~enreihe der Deu tsc_hen Demokratischen RePablic
Series of GDR Publications), Berlin, published under the auspices of the GDR Office of
Information, entitled Staatliche Kong and Volkskontrolle he en s~,ge 'uenflahrluau
erfuell~.e,.. (State Control and People's Control Help to Fulfil the Five-Year Plan), and sub-
titled A Report On The Fourth Business Meeting of the Central Commission for State Control.,
etc, The brochure contains the text of an address of welcome by the Chairman of the
Thueringen Commission for State Control, a speech by Fritz Lange, chairman of the Central
Commission for State Control, on the Missions of the State Control and the People's Control
in the Safeguarding of the Five-Year Plan, excerpts from speeches by other officials,
a resolution concerning the functions of the Central Commission for State Control and its
organs, and of the People's Control Commissions. in the struggle for the security and
rroteetion of the 5-Year Plan, the Law %overnidg the 1951 Economic Plan, and the Law for
the Defense of Peace,
3) A 113-page publication, No 7%of the'abcve mentioned SchriftsnreiI !i (series), entitled

by Verla Die Wirtschaft (The Economy),. Berlin. The booklet is titled Die Stellung der
Gem den u, Kreise im Finanzaus eich (The Position of the Communities and Kreise With
Regard To Financial Equalization).. an ''evaluation submitted to the GDP Finance Ministry by
the Insitute for Finance of the Economic Department of Humboldt University. It has a fore-
word, dated 2-4 Feb 1951, by Willi Ge raino,State secretary in the Finance Ministry# and
deals with the principlesi methods of VinanEial equalization and with the finance system
currently in effect.
5) Demol atischer Aufbau (Democratic Reconstruction), No 1, January 1952, a 32-page periodical
