Approved For Releas 25X1 25X1 25X1 25X1 GER. M ANY (Russian Zone) CONSERVATION OF COPPER AND ALIThW UM ILT PLANTS OF THE SAG KABE 25X1 the principal plants using copper and co per alloys are KWO, KWK, Sachsenwer, and AEG-Treptow. These plants use copper as a current-conducting material and therefore the use of 25X1 copper substitutes must always result in a deterioration of quality of the plant products. Copper substitutes can only be used for second- 25X1 ax'y, less important parts. The plan provides for a saving of 1 062 tons of copper and 30 tons 25X1 of aluminum in 1952. The use of aluminu~`siabstitutes i.e. gnu esi m alloys, is complicated due to. the fact that pressure-casting of magnesium alloys is still insufficiently developed in the German Democratic Republic The "Spritz-Pressglessereirn Plant is organizing pressure casting of magnesium alloys. 25X1 25X1 25X1 Approved For Release 25X1 FORD No. Approved For Release 2005/ IA-RDP83-00415R011300100005-9 Y i 3 51.61 CLASSIFICATION MAY 1949 t CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE AGENCY REPORT INFORMATION REPORT COUNTRY Germany (Russian Zone) SUBJECT Conservation of Copper and Aluminum in the Plants of the SAG Kabel PLACE ACQUIRED DATE OF ACQUIRED THIS DOCUMENT CONTAINS INFORMATION AFFECTING THE NATIONAL DEFENSE OF THE UNITED STATES WITHIN THE MEANING OF THE ESPIONAGE ACT 50 U.
