CONSERVATION OF COPPER AND ALIThW UM ILT PLANTS OF THE SAG KABE
25X1 the principal plants using copper and co
per alloys are KWO, KWK, Sachsenwer, and AEG-Treptow. These plants
use copper as a current-conducting material and therefore the use of
25X1 copper substitutes must always result in a deterioration of quality
of the plant products. Copper substitutes can only be used for second-
25X1 ax'y, less important parts.
The plan provides for a saving of 1 062 tons of copper and 30 tons
25X1 of aluminum in 1952. The use of aluminu~`siabstitutes i.e. gnu esi m
alloys, is complicated due to. the fact that pressure-casting of magnesium
alloys is still insufficiently developed in the German Democratic Republic
The "Spritz-Pressglessereirn Plant is organizing pressure casting of
magnesium alloys.
