la The motion-picture industry in Croatia is to be dissolved because of low
production and the lack of funds. All other Yugoslav enterprises failing
to produce will also be diissoJvedo The general reaction to this decision
is so strong) that all discharged employees will be given unemployment
compensation for a limited period. However, in view of the shortage of
funds, payment of this compensation will create a new crisis.
2. The economic plan based on the devaluation of the dinar will be sharply
revised within the next few weeks. Following the adjournment of Parlia-
ment, high-level economic personnel are to be reshuffled, with rumors
centering upon Boris Kidric and Osman Karabegovic.
3. The Trieste issue is becoming popular, especially in Slovenia) Croatia
and Dalmatia. As a result of his strong stand on Trieste, Tito is now
at the height of his popularity. More student demonstrations on the Trieste
issue are predicted, 'together with Yugoslav retaliation against Italy in
the form of a reduction In trade, as a result of the recent pro-!ltaliau
demonstrations in Trieste.
5e Roman Catholic priests in Croatian villages are using their influence against
the Yugoslav regime, talking more "politics" than religion. The priests have
considerably increased heir financial aid to the pocr in the villages.
