25X1A Cor-i lent: There is an acute scrap iron shortage in the GDR iron and steel
industries. The pig iron production will, therefore, be especially expanded
under the Five-Year Plan.
This document consists of a photostated list, prepared by the Main Department of the
Iron Industry of the GDR Ministry of Metallurgy and Ore Mining, of the stocks of scrap iron
(in tons) at the SNTaxhuette, Brandenburg, Hennigsdorf, Riesa, Groed.itz, and Doehien steel
plants.
Figures are given for stocks on hand on six different dates in 1951: 1 January, 30
March, 30 September, 2L. October, 23 November, and 31 December. The total scrap-iron stooks
for allPix plants on these dates are also given. On 31 December 1951, total stocks of scrap
iron amounted to 111,982 tone.
