E. Raw hides and skins.. Allocated to tanners on basis
48/49 use. No (rpt no) control over end products.
F. Nickel - containing stainless steel. 90% of demand
imported and not (rpt not) on free list. Import to state
end uses and purposes prior to grant of import licenses.
For importers who sell to many users, govt has 1iated
industries to which sales can be made (e.g. pulp and paper,
electro metallurgical, electro chemical, fish canning,
medical equipment). No (rpt no) restrictions on chromium
stainless steels.
G. Copper. Restrictions placed on manufacture end items
March 31. List is quite comprehensive and includes electrical
and lighting materials, building materials, and utensils
and accessories. Copper items cannot be produced, without
govt approval, by manufacturers not (rpt not) in regular
production such items on Mar 31.
H,. Rubber: Only restrictions are on liquid latex which
represents 18% annual import natural rubber. Production
follow sample items prohibited: Toilet articles, toys,
balloons, 'insulating materials, cycle tires, floor mats.
Purchasers of new tires required surrender old tires.
1. Chemicals, Only restrictions are on caustic soda which
allocated to users based on use last half 1950. Short supply
due to increased demand by pulp and paper mills.
J. Cement and building materials. Use controlled through
grant building permits.
K. Textiles are rationed and not (rpt not) on free list.
