This was seen to be a normal dwelling house, built about 1870. It was inhabited by at least three German families 3. At the back of No. 219 there was a shed, two garages and a newly glazed "studiott, in which could be seen shelves with laboratory apparatus and opaque glass lighting balls. The laboratory apparatus apDeared to be in store: small flasks and test-tubes could be seen. 8. Nowhere on the fence or house was there any name-plate or other sign. 9.
