Approved For Release 2002/08/19 : CIA-RDP83-00415RO13800070001-0 SECTET/CONTROL = US 01+FICIALS (:NLY German Democratic Republic 95X1A 25X1A CONSTRTTr;TTnN Q ?BLAST FITR1\1ACES IN GDR METALLURGICAL PLANTS ( 1 u; German; dated 25X1X 25X1C 25 Jr. This document dated I and prepared which gives brief data on the construction of blast furnaces in GDR metallurgical plants, as follows: 1) The Ministry of Metallurgy and Ore-Mining approved the planned reconstruction of the charcoal blast-furnaces at Weidenbrunn. 2) The same type of blast furnaces which operate satisfactorily at Unterwellenborn/axhuette Steel Plant]` are to be installed at the Neuhuette Plant in Schmalldalden. Initially, two blast furnaces, with a daily maximum capacity of 250 tons each, are to be installed. The Neuhuette Plant is scheduled to start production by the middle of 1953, and will probably operate as a branch of the Max- huette Plant, It is also mentioned that Chief Engineer P.
