THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
1. In September. 1952, an East German air force commission from the HVL (Haupt-
verwaltung Luft) of the Ministry of the Interior visited the Werk fuer Fern-
meldewesen HF (OSW) in Berlin-Obersohoeneweide, Ostendstrasse 1-5. Two or
three men of the commission talked to various specialists in the plant, try-
ing to recruit them for work in Pirna, near Dresden. The commission showed
particular interest in specialists with knowledge of design and development
in the fields of flow apparatus (Stroemungsapparate ) and optics, and in Ger-
man specialists repatriated from the USSR. It was believed in OSW that these
recruitments were for a research and development center of the future East
German air force at Pirna, 17 kilometers southeast of Dresden, on the Elbe
River.- The OSW workers were somewhat perturbed to note that the commission
also visited more than ten persons in their homes and made inventories of the
furniture. This recalled the Russian actions of October 19+6, before the 50X1-HUM
great deportations to the USSR.
1. [Comment. Other technical activity conducted by't ;e East German air
force is actually at Sonnenstein, the eastern suburb of Pirna. It is not
clear if the research is, or is to be, there also.
