The airfield is located at the southwest edge of Budapest... The airfield consists of two parts- an airfield for sports planes, and the commercial airfield for the official Soviet-Hungarian SMaszovlet" Airlines. All of the official Hungarian airlines go through this field, A number of old. American aircraft of the C-I7 type, now designated as LJ-2s, were observed on the field, The planes of the Maszovlet Airlines are piloted exclusively by Soviet pilots, Planes belonging to ONRE (National Hungarian Aviation Association) were observed on the field on which the sports planes were parked, The weather station for the commercial airfield is loacted in Budapest. The radio and telephone communications centers are located in the main building which is designated as No. 4 in sketch 2, Gasoline trucks supply the airfield with fuel for the planes. Water and electric power are supplied byt the city of Budapest. The airfield is guarded by members of the Hungarian AVH (State Security Authority). The 28 buildings comprising the depot are made of stone, Between five and fifteen carloads of ammunition are shipped to and from the depot in the course of a month, The ammunition., which bears Russian markings, is unloaded at the railroad freight station at Devecser and is hauled to the depot by motor trucks. The depot is guarded by a unit designated as the Devecser Artillery Guard Battalion, consisting df 12 officers and 21.0 enlisted men. It is reported that a large percentage of the men have already serv&d their required terms of military service, and are dis- gruntled because they have not yet been discharged. The majotity of the enlisted men cone from the area east of the Danube. and received their infantry training in Marcali. The names of eight of the officers of the guard battaliof are given, together with very brief personal histories. Details are given on the tours of duty of the guards., and on their weapons.
