THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION 50X1-H UM 1. 2. pier number 26,which is located at Povrakulskiy Island on the river's eastern shore. The depth at the pier, which is of wood% construction, was given as 30 feet. There were no railway tracks or watering facilities on the pier but the illumination was good. The cargo was delivered to the vessel by heavy trucks. 50X1-H UM into Arkhangelsk. The river was crossed 50X1-HUM at a point between Solombala and the city,. where there is a pontoon bridge.' 3. In Arkhangelsk several companies of infantry march by, without rifles or equipment. The companies were composed entirely of non-commissioned officers and rivates. Their uniforms were khaki with red shoulder boards. aleo saw many sailors, but the number of military personnel observed was not unusually large. 4.. While the vessel was at the lumber pier some air activity was observed over Arkhangelsk, but did not see or hear any jet aircraft. 5. In the uppermost part of Port Ekonomiya there were 15 to 20 former German E-boats, which had been freshly painted. 6. During departure,visibility was poor. there is a naval yard or a submarine harbor at Cape Zimnegorskiy (65-3I4T, 39-30E), When vessel was approximately 1/2 nautical mile off shore, a motor boatorderedthe vessel to maintain a greater distance from shore. Between Cape Terskiy Orlov (67-12N, 41-20E) and Cape Sozonoya, observed 30 to 40 small naval vessels, probably minesweepers. The distance was too great to observe details. A large modern submarine was observed between Cape Svyatoy (68-10N, 39-48E) and KharloV Island (68-49N, 37-21E).
