1. Inelosure A attached to this report is a memory sketch of the town
of Swinoujscie based on a non-standard town plan & scale 10400
(approximate). Following is the legend to this memory sketch.
Numbers in parentheses refer to numbers on the sketch.
(1) porno. . voodoo boards, approximately two meters high. It
surrounded the Soviet Naval Rase. Soviet naval personnel and
their dependents were billeted at this base. The majority of
the building* at the base were two and three-story brisk 'Mae*
The base included shopping and school facilities for dependents*
(2) Vence - barbed wire surrounding the Soviet Naval Hospital.
The hospital included two three-story brick buildings and
several barracks.

Polish Naval Caserne
(4) Sisters of Mary Monastery - a two-story brick villa* 25=20m;
gable roof covered with tile* The villa was surrounded by a
garden.
Former German Officers Casino - partly destroyed and not in use.
The building was two-story brick construction. There was a
tower on the roof of this building. The height of the tower
was four meters from the top of the roof. An antiaircraft
artillery observation post was located in the tower. It was
manned by two soldiers from the infantry battalion stationed at
the Polish Naval caserne& (Point 3 above), at all times.
(6) Polish Naval Officers Club - an "1** shaped three-story brick
construction with gable roof covered with tile. The dimensions
or the main part of the building were 35x1044 and of the wing,
20xem.
(7) Society or Children's Friends School (Towarnystwo Przyjaciol
Weed) - an "L" shaped three-story brick construction with
flat roof. The dimensions of the main part of the building
were 70mx12m& and of the wing, 50mx12m. Approximately 350
children attended this school. This was one of the two
elementary schools in Swinoujscie.
(8) Nybreeses Construction Company - the offices and workshops
of this company were located in one two-story brick building
and several barracks.

(21) Office Building - a two-story brick construction, 45=10s;
gable roof covered with tile. The following offices were
located in this building:
County Security Committee (Powiatowy gomitet Bespieczenstwa).
County Militia Command.
Town Militia Precinct.
(22) County Union of Lawyers Cooperatives (Powiatowy Zespol Spold-
glielni AdwokackieJ) - a two-story brick villa, 8mx8ms gable
roof covered with tile.
(23) Soviet Garrison Jail * two story brick construction, 2=10m;
gable roof covered with tile. Source stated that this jail
was always full. The general charges were: Stealing, drinking,
and disobeying orders.
(2 Workers Rotel - a three-story brick construction, 20m*10ms flat
roof. This hotel was for the employees of the Deep Sea Fishing
and Fishing Service Enterprise "0DRAs (Prigedsiebiorstwo Polowow
Dalekomorskich 1. Us lug Rybackich).
( Kindergarten - a two-story brick construction, 10mx8m; gable
roof covered with tile. It was open from 0600 to 2000 hours.
About 50 children attended it daily. There were five nurses
taking care of the caldron.
(26) Co-operative Store - a three-story "Ls shaped brick construction
with a flat roof. The dimensionsH of the main part of the
building were 30mx9m?, and of the wine 20ffm9m. This store was
only for members of the UB (Secret Police) (Utza4Bevpieezenstwig
Publicsnego) and their dependents.
(27) County Al:Ministration of the Polish Red Cross - a three-story
brick constructions Sable roof covered with tile. Only the
first floor of this building was 00040101 by the Polish Red
Cross. The rest of the building was living quarters.
(28) Post Office - a two-story brit* construction, 30mx12ms gable
root covered with tile. This was the Only post office in
Swinoujscie.
(29) Elementary School - a three-story brick construction, 30=12m,
flat roof. "Dom Elgreersa" (bey scout club) and children's
tourist hotel were also located in this building.
(30) Military Construction Company - a two-story brick construction,
18mx12ms flat roof.

9 Building - a three-story brisk construction with flat roof.
The following offices were located in this building:
County Committee or the POlish United Worker's Party (Polska
Zjednoszona Partia Robotnicsa - Pm).
County Representative for the Buying of Livestock (PowietowY
Pelnomoonik Skupu 4w:fa).
(10) County Attorney's Office (Prokuratura Powistowa) - a two-story
brick villa, 8mz7m; gable roof covered with tile. The living
quarters of the county attorney were also located in this
building.
(11) County Court a three-story brick construction with flat roof.
(12) Power Sub-Station - a two story brick construction, 3(mzlOmi
low gable roof covered with tile. This station was subordinate
to the Poznan Electrical Association, Western Region, Swinodjscie
Section (Zjednoszents lamktryczne PosnansOkreg Zachodni, 04sial
w Swinoujsciu).
(13) Gymnasium - a single story brick construction, 30mx15mx6m. It
belonged to the Sport Association "Owardjan. Only members of
the Polish Security Pore** belonged to this association.
(14) Polish Tourist and Local Studies Society (Polskie Towarmystwo
Turystyczno Erajoznawcze) - a two story brick oonstruction,
20mzlOmi gable roof covered with tile.
(15) Evening School - an "L? 4haped three-story brick construction.
The dimensions of the main part of the building were 302420,
and of the wing, 30mz12m.
(16) Dormitory - a two story brick construction, 20mz1Om. Flat roof.
This dormitory was for the students of the evening school Point
15 above.
(17) Town Dispensary (Osrodek Zdrowia) - a two-story brick con-
struction, 15mx9m; gable roof covered with tile.
(16) Soviet Military Dependents Quarters - 4 two-story brick:con-
struction, 20mmlOmi sable roof covered with tile.
(19) Horse Barn - a single-story brick construction, 3007,10mx6m;
low gable roof covered with tarpaper. This horse barn belonged
to the Soviet Naval Base, Point 1 above. There were about 30
horses in the born.
Naval Billets - a two-story brick construction* 15mA.; sable
roof covered with Moo Tb.re was approximately a platoOn
billeted here* They took care of the horses located in the
horse barn Point 19 above.

(32) Storehouse - a three-story brick construction; gable roof
covered with tile. This storehouse belonged to the general
0911MuslOrS.7!Cooperative (Powszechna Spoldzielnia Spozywoow).
03) Office Building - a four-story brick constructions 25=12m;
gable roof covered with tile. Offices of the General Consumers'
Cooperative were located in this building.
(34) Seventh Registration Precinct - a three-story brick construction;
gable type roof covered with tile. Only the first floor was
occupied by this offices the rest of the building was living
quarters.
(35) Officers Casino - a three-story brick constructions 20mx10m;
gable roof covered with tile. It was only for officers of
the Polish Security Forces.
(36) Fire House - a wooden barracks 20mx10mx3m; low gable roof
covered with tarpaper. This was the only civil fire house
on the west side of the canal. The fire brigade consisted
strictly of volunteers. Source believed they had only one
fire engine. The Soviet and Polish Navy had their own fire
brigades. They assisted the civil fire brigade when needed.
(3T) Kindergarten - a two-story brick villas 15mx10m; gable roof
covered with tile, It was only for Polish Naval personnel
dependents. About 20 children attended this kindergarten.
There were two nurses taking cars of the children.
(38) Polish Navy Hotel - a two-story brick constructions 35mx10m;
gable roof covered with tile. Transferred personnel and
dependents were billeted here.
(39) Pence - partly wood and partly barbed wire. This fence bounded
the Soviet Naval Base on the west.
(40) Housing Area - occupied by Soviet officers and NCO dependents;
A number of two-story brick constructions with gable roofs.
(41) Billets - a three-story brick constructions 25mx10m; gable
roof covered with tile. Approximately two companies of Soviet
Marines were billeted there.
(42) Barrack - a wooden constructions 20mx8mx3.5m; low gable roof
covered with tarpaper. Trucks, searchlightss transformerspand
barrels of POL were located there.

VD Dispensary - a single-story brick construction, 10mx7m;
low gable roof covered with tarpaper. The living quarters of
the doctor were also located in this building. .
Building - partly occupied by the Swinoujscie Section of the
State Coastal Navigation Office at Szczecin (Panstwowa Zegluga
Przybrzezna w Szczecinie, Odzial w Swinoujsciu). Only the
second floor of the building was occupied by this office. The
remaining part of the building was living quarters. It was a
three-story brick construction with a gable roof covered with
tile.

struction, 15=10m; flat roof covered with tarpaper.

roof covered with tile. Soviet Naval officers and dependents
were billeted there.

This shop serviced the Soviet B&W. Only small military vessels
were repaired there. The shop worked only periodically. About
50 sailers worked there when the shop was in operation.

(67) Barrack - a single-story wood construction, 10mx5mx3m; low
gable type roof covered with tarpaper. This barrack was
occupied by the Soviet Navy. The area southwest of this
barrack was used as storage place for equipment of the hydro-
graphical section of the Soviet Navy.
Barrack - a single-story wood construction, 18mx8mx3m; low
gable roof covered with tarpaper. Artillery targets were
stored and repaired there. There also was a mechanical device
for launching the floating targets and pulling them back up on
land again.
(69) Old Citadel - it was used by the Soviets.
(70) Ammunition and Weapons Storehouses - four barracks, wood
construction, 20mx10mx3m; low gable roof covered with tarpaper.
(71) Tower - a wood construction. The tower was for the guard
guarding Point 70 above. It was occupied 24 hours a day.

yachts of the Soviet Navy were located there.
(74) Observation Tower - brick construction, about 22m high. Soviet
Navy and antiaircraft artillery observation points were located

(83) Polish Navy Observation Point - a 12m high tower of brick
and concrete construction. It was equipped with radio, telephone
and a signal light. About six people worked and lived there.

t84; .7olish Merchant Marine Observation Point - a 24m-high tower
of wood construction. It was equipped with a telephone and a
signal light. A navigational light was located on the top of
th4 tower. Only one man was on duty at a time. He worked
24 hours and then had 48 hours off.
(85) Observation Point - a small wooden shack. It was occupied by
the Border Guard (Wojsko Ochrony Pogranicsa WOP). There
were two men on duty during the day, and three men at night.
They controlled all vessel traffic entering and leaving the
channel. They were equipped with a telephone and search light.
All identified vessels were reported by telephone to the WOP
representative with the port authorities. All unidentified
vessel* were reported to the WOP operations officer in the
building, Point 162 below.
(86) Guard Tower - wood construction about four meters high* A
Soviet guard was located there. His duty was to guard the
Soviet base and storehouses.

last observed by source in August 19550 Workers from the

also a plan to resettle the population from the west side of the
channel to this settlement.

Building - a single-story brick construction, 10mx10m; gable
roof covered with tile. This building was occupied by the
Soviets.
Building - a two-story brick construction, 35mx10m; gable roof '
covered with tile. Soviet military bakery, messhall, radio
station and food storehouse were located there.

The dimensions of the main part of the blinding were 25mx9mx5m,
and of the wing 20mx9mx5m. A mechenlOal shop for crane repair
and a clothing storehouse were located there. This building
belonged to the port authorities. This building was located
at the so called "Bunker Base." The bunker base was a storage
place for coal. There were several cranes for loading and
unloading coal from the ships.
(103) WOP Observation Point - a wooden tower, approximately seven
'totters high. There was one man on (140 at all times.
(104) Electrical Equi.ment Repair Shop - a single-story brick con-
struction, 10mx.. 30; low gable roof covered with tarpaper.
It was located at the bunker base.
(105) Boiler Room - a single-story brick construction, 15mx8me7m;
gable roof covered with tarpaper.
(106) Guardhouse - a single-story brick construction, 5mx5mx3.5m;
low gable roof covered with tarPesPer. Women industrial police
guards guarding the bunker base stayed there,
(107) Barrack - wood construction, 7mx5mx205m; low gable roof
covered with tarpaper. This was the welting room for the
ferry passengers.
(108) Building - a two-story brick constructions. 10mx7w; low gable
roof covered with tarpaper. Port authorities and bunker base
offices were located there.
(109) WOP Caserne - a two-story brick construction, 12mx10m; low
gable roof covered with tarpaper. A concrete walls, about
1.80m with about .40m of barbed wire on top surrounded the
building. Approximately 80 WOP members were billeted there.

roof covered with tarpaper. Two men were here on stand-by
in case of fire alarm.

(111) Piro House - an "10" shaped, two-story brick construction. The.,
dimensions of the main part were 15mx8m and the wing 15mx7m;
gable type roof covered with tarpaper. Two fire engines were
located there. The fire brigade consisted of 12 men.
(112) Warszow Militia Precinct - a single-story brick construction;
low gable roof covered with tarpaper. The staff consisted
of a senior sergeant in charge and three men.
(113) Building - a single-story brick conetructiono 18mx9mx4m; low
gable roof covered with tarpaper. Peasant's Mutual Aid Sales
Center (Centrala Handlowa Samopomocy Chlopskiej) was located
there.
(114) Locomotive Repair Shop - a single-story brick construction with
glass roof. Minor locomotive repairs and inspections were
performed there. Four locomotives could enter the shop at
one time.
(115) 'cod Storehouse - a single-story brick construction, 30mx10mx4m1
low gable roof covered with tarpaper. It belonged to the Polish
Navy.
(116) Electrical Sub-station - a brick towers 3mx3mx10m.
(117) Storehouse - a brick construction. It belonged to the Balton&
Sales Enterprise (Przedsiebiorstwo Handlowe Baltona). This
enterprise supplied the merchant marine and fishing vessels
with everything necessary.

Concrete Wall - it was about two meters high with 30om of
barbed wire on top. It surrounded the area of the Deep Sea
Fishing and fisherman's Service Enterprise "ODRA" (P.P.D
"ODRA" Przedsiebiorstwo Polowow Dalekomorskich 1. Uslug
Rybackich). It was called the Fisherman's Port. Points 124 to
130 inclusive belonged to this enterprise.
Building - wood construction. Source was unable to elaborate.

Port Platoon. There was a total of about 60 persons in the
platoon. They occupied this point and Points 145, 146, 148

POL Storage - about six tanks and one barge were located here.
The barge contained about 700 tons of shale oil. The tanks
contained gasoline, oil and kerosene. Source was unable to
estimate the dimensions of the tanks. They were located in
the water.

offices were located in this building.
