the installation numbers in the following observations correspond to the numbering
of these installations on the map.
2. On 24 Niay 1955, an NTB, armed with torpedo tubes, lay alongside the old naval quay
(No. 1) and had one slung torpedo. The torpedo was about 4 to 5 meters long. On
the quay lay floats for trawls, buoys, old torpedos and mines.
3. Near the newly built tanks (No. 2) there were numerous vents (air?inlets) which
looked like 'small wooden chimneys with little roofs. These were about 0,5 m higE
and about 12:1 in wide. There were about 20 of these vents in the rectangle narked
No. 3 on map.
In the rectangle marked No. 4 on map, pipes, about 20256. am in diameter and about
25 m long, were 24.040together'aSif in preparation for building. The pipes were
white on the outside. Either this was insulating material or they were painted
that color.
5. The newly constructed quay (No. 5) is about 400 in down the Channel from the old
quay. \
6. On 11 June 1955 four tank., car s .'stood on the railway line (No. 6) near the coast.
Farther away from the quay there was altrsight train with several tank cars. ,
7. The whole region, a distance of over a kilometer along the coast from the old quay
to the new one, was guarded by Soviet army sentries. There were about 9 of them
near the coast. Formerly not more than 2 sentries could be seen in this regions,
