A contract for the production of submarine parts received at the beginning of February from the DIA (Deutscher Innen- and Aussenhandel),l 25X1 b, The production of switchboards for warships and merchant ships being; built or refitted in East German shipyards. The ships included: KUBAN 3000-ton freighter SCHWITOMRANDWACIIi. 10,000-ton freighter SCHWIJ 9E KRAKE HABICHT HECIIT ,25X1 25X1 The switchboards are being manufactured for a variety of uses, including degaussing equipment, radio equipment, marine switchboards, auxiliary switch- boards, domestic (sic) services. 2. The engines and main instrument panel of the former German U-boat S ICILL114G are being removed and reassembled for classroom training of Seepolizei (Navy) personnel at Stralsund, 3. The so-called BRANDWACHEN are U-boat mother ships. One has been completed; six more are `on order. (Note: Washington distribution indicated by "X"; Field distribution by "#".)
