February 1956
1. Military Fuel Dump at Plzen-Ceske-Udoli
Located 250 meters south of the Bory prison and east of the Plzen-
Litice road. It is embedded between the cantonment of a TP (Technical
Battalion) unit and the "simple" [single-track?] Plzen-Valcha railroad.
The details of the installation are shown in sketch ld. This dump is
divided into two parts by the secondary road which connects Doudlevce to
the Pizen-Litice road.
The two buildings, designated as 5A and 5B are identical;
they were built before 1953. Outwardly, these two buildings are like two-
story villas, with slate roofing and 15 X 15 meters in size. In fall 1953,
the military authorities requisitioned this area and the two buildings.
The secondary road was closed to traffic. Beginning at that time, the
source observed numerous trucks carrying sand, cement, concrete-reinforcing
rods, and beams to the work yard opened in this area. The amount of excava-
tion dirt removed seemed to indicate a large-scale underground construction
project.
For the first time in March 1955, the source saw several hundred fuel
drums being unloaded from railroad cars parked on the railroad spur, which
is located about 80 meters north of buhilding 5A. These drums of 2001 [not
further described] were either rolled directly or transported by military
trucks to the entrances of buildings 5A and 5B. Later, the source had
several occasions to observe the arrival of drums of 20 and 2001 transported
by truck from the railroad to the building entrance [s]. The amount
of fuel thus stacked, which must have been considerable, confirms the ex-
istence of large underground installations because these drums could never

be stored in the pseudo-villas. It is interesting to note that the
source never saw any drums taken out of the buildings. It is not-to
be ruled out that this is a mobilization fuel stock. There is no
precise data on the size and nature of this dump. Each of the two
enclosures of the installation is surrounded by a lattice-work en-
closure, about 2 meters high, surmounted by barbed wire and supported
by concrete pillars. A second enclosure, located about 3 meters from
the central building, consists of a wire entanglement, 1.6 meters high
and one meter wide. At the four corners of this second redtangle,
there are searchlights mounted on wooden posts, about 4 meters high.
They light the entire area (Target 4+) all night long. A sentry box
manned at all times by a guard armed with rifle is located in front of
each of the two buildings. The other guards, armed with machine pistols,
constantly patrol around the outer enclosure. The guard detachment, 12
men strong, is furnished by the artillery regiment billeted in Bory, is
under the command of a second lieutenant, and is relieved daily between
12:00 and 13:00 hours. The offices and the guard house must be located
in building 5A, whose windows are equipped with panes while those of
building 5B are closed with boards.

2. Quartermaster Depot at Plzen-Koterov
Located at the junction of the Bozkov-Homolka and Koterev-Plzen
roads
All the buildings are interconnected by overhead
passageways located at the second story level. Each building has a
wooden loading ramp which can be used by trucks and railroad cars.
A "simple", standard-gauge railroad track connects this depot to the
Plzen-Koterov freight yard. It is an important depot; deliveries of
foodstuffs and equipment are made every day. Trucks from all branches
of service come to this depot to draw food and clothing. The military
personnel assigned to the depot are billeted in the interior. Their
meals are prepared at the Slovany barracks.
