During the period of September -October 1955, a very large scale military
draft took place in North Korea for the first time sine.e the .armistice,
Ail males, tivhose ages ranged from 18 to 2~., were drafted. Railroad
employees, heretofore deferred from draft, were also inducted into the
armed forces this time, like college students.l
