Russian Billets in BUDIP'EST : 1956
Tyro-storied requisitioned building, corner of Munkacs Mihaly
and Lendvay St., BUDAPEST VI. The house is guarded by sentries and
night patrols with dogs. Soldi;;rs with n .genta shoulder-beards were
obs(:rved in the yard. A consid.3rable number of men in uniform and
civilian clothes visit the house. Their documents are scrutinised at
the entrance gate.
2. Requisitioned garage, corner Bajzu and Szondi St., BUDAPEST VI,
housing cars of high-ranking officers. The car of the Soviet Military
Attache id also garaged there. 1l ?river is always on duty at this garage.

Requisitioned five-storied yellow painted building, corner
bajza and Aradi St., BUDAPEST VI, unguarded. This building houses a
Soviet-Hungarian Economic office. No Hungarian personnel vrxq,, observed
working in this building.
4.. Requisitioned villa in Vil::1a KiralynL St. , BUD PEST VI,
located in a garden and known to house a Russian L%ND office. See sketch
at Appendix "A". The area covered is approximately 50 by 60 metres,
surrounded by an iron fence and guarded by two sentries with blue
shoulder-boards. The two--storied house always has its windows closed.
Military and civilian visitors on foot and in cars are stopped at the
entrance gate and their documents checked,
5. Two-storied requisitioned villa, corner cf Bajza and Benczur
St., BUDAPEST VI, opposit the North Korean Embassy. The upper floors
%ontain senior officers' flats, rna the ground floor is used for ration
stores. The building is guarded by AVH men.

6. Two-storied requisitioned building in Szentlelek Sq
the Danube bank, BUDAPEST III.( OBUDA). The building is approximately
70 by 20 metres and houses approximately 200 soldiers with black shoulder- 25X1
boards. MT vehicles are parked in the yard
guarded by a sentry with black shoulder-board..
7. Tank Barracks in Zach St., BUD.LP ST X, (see sketch attached at
Appendix."B"). The barracks cover an area of approximately 800 by 1,000
metres, surrounded by a brick wall. Description of buildings:
i) Headquarters and offices, marked (a) in Sketch "B"
ii) Living quarters, marked (b)
iii) Garages, marked (c)
iv) Guard rooms, marked (d)
v) Repair workshop, marked (e)
Three JS/3 and 4 T/34 tanks were observed arriving at the barracks by rail
in the middle of December 1955. Soldiers with black shoulder--boards
guard the road and the railway entrances.
