The port of Nacala lies about 50 miles North of Mozambique.
Government has built a Railway siding linking Nacala to the
main Nampula/Mozambique line.
They are also contemplating the construction of an accostable
dock berthing pier at Nacala but no one will ever know when
the plan may ever be executed.
Nevertheless, it is reported that Government are also enter-
taining ideas of declaring Nacala open for Cargo Steamers
when loading and unloading operations will have to be carried
out by means of lighters and cargo barges just as such opera-
tions are being done at Mozambique and Lumbo.
