General Description:
Lapp village on bank of river with same name. Linked by road to Alta. Winter sledge
and snowmobile links with Finland, Sweden and Karasjok. Wooded surroudings, local
farming in clearing. Reindeer pastures on mountain tundra. One of two main Lapp
centers in Finxirnark.
Geographic Description:
Interior Finnmark plateau here modified by lower altitude of valley. Latitude
as Troms6, but climate more continental.

Birch with reindeer moss in favored locations. Tundra above tree line.

valley with rounded slopes of plateau as background.

Underpass Good bridges there. Bridge across river at Kautokeino has
permanent piers and girders but temporarily super structure.
Note plans exist for re-routing #905 from Alta so as to avoid
high land over Baeska,des Plateau. ILoute will probably begin
at #904.
