1. Our audio language training facilities include records in French, Spanish and
German. Audio work is given each student one hour per week and regular classroom
work is given four hours per week. Records are available in all three languages,
covering topics such as folk songs, fables and selections from comedies and plays.
Students make tape recordings of passages they read from books. These recordings
are played back to determine their progress in acquiring correct pronunciation.
2. Long playing records are available through advanced French. These French recordings
were prepared by Professors Hendrix and Meiden of Ohio State and issued by
Naughton Mifflin Company. We also use records included in the "Living Language"
series.
3. Spanish language records include the "Living Language" series and a group of records
purchased in Mexico by a member of our faculty containing readings of "Little
Red Riding Hood" and the "Virgin of Guadeloupe". Intermediate Spanish is the
highest level taught.
II. German language records are mostly homemade by a member of the faculty.
Intermediate only.
5. Russian was taught during World War II. It has not been taught since due to lack of
interest. We have a few recordings all homemade.
6. Our record library is purely functional to meet the requirements of the college.
It contains no unusual selections and certainly no recordings of unusual languages.
