Rio de Janeiro, June 12 - Mr. Sergio Gomes, brother of
Brigadier Eduardo Gomes, defeated candidate in the last two
presidential elections, published a letter in "0 Mundo" in
which he criticizes those who showed opposition to a planned
visit of President Peron to Brazil.
Doctor Gomes points out that society, industry, and
commerce of Brazil received with pleasure the news of the
probable visit of General Peron, because "his name does not
pertain alone to Argentina but to all the nations of Latin
America."

He declares further that "today the danger of Hispanicism
disappeared, but another larger danger, Yankeeism, appeared,
which corrodes everything, and, what is sadder, the press and
Congress are affected by that fever."
He sustains that Brazil loses her sovereignty day by day,
arriving at the extreme of accusing of Communism, the Generals
of the reserve who defend the Brazilian petroleum industry,
adding:
The Brazilian press, which lives from the tips of the
Banco do Boston, took its nationalistic personality and today
echoes the ring of the North American dailies, endangering all
that is typically Brazilian. And that same press eulogizes
the next visit of a fleet of North American warships. We march
in that way toward the colonization of our land and we accept
that humiliation with a befrightening calm. May General Peron
bring us a little of that civic warmth which the Argentines
show to the North Americans who pretend to carry the flag of
colonialism to the great land of Argentina."
