The Soviet articles of which the attachments are original texts of translated digests thereof are as follows: A. Preparation and Polymerization of Some Unsaturated Esters of Phosphonic Acids by G. Kamai and V. A. Kukhtin of the S. M. Kirov Chem. Tech. Institute at Kazan, appearing in Doklady Akad. Nauk SSSR, 59, 309-12 (1953). B. Esters of Diethylphosphinous Acid by B. A. Arbuzov and N. I. Rizpolozhenskii, appearing in Doklady Akad Nauk SSSR 59, 291.-2 (1953). 2. The first article represents research which is basically not new and not original. Numerous recent US patents describe synthetic resins that contain phosphorus for flame-proofing and the series set forth in the Soviet article are not materially different from US products. 3.
