1. The Dubno (West Ukraine) tinned food factory was built prior to World War II
by the Polish Bacon Company of Gniezno. It was located about three-quarters
of a mile northwest of the railroad station in Dubno. The plant was taken
over by the Germans in 1941 and remained in their hands until 1944. During
this period it was known as "Fleish-und Obstkonservenfabrik, Osthandelsges-
selshaft Dubno." Included among its products were fat, sausages, bacon and
tinned meat, chicken, vegetables and fruit. Approximately 300 people were
employed.
2. The Germans built a two-story, reinforced concrete addition to the factory
to house the vegetable and fruit department. Modern equipment was installed,
including boilers, agitators, filters, etc. Most of this was d4mantled
and returned to Germany in January, 1944,but the factory was not 'destroyed.
