Linseed oil markets abroad have been rather inactive with what little
trading was done being limited to nearby delivery. Prices continue to
hold steady. Although linseed (flaxseed) offerings have been made at
reduced prices, buyers have shown little interest with so much cheap
linseed oil available. Present prices for bulk linseed oil, c.i.f. Euro-
pean and British ports, in US dollar equivalent per pound, are approxi-
mately as follows:
Argentine and Uruguayan,, Nov/Dec/
9-3/40
Canadian, Nov/Dec.
11-120
US - Nov./Dec.
9-120
Indian, Dec./Jan.
12-1/L-?
Belgian oil, ex mill, Dec. 9
9-7/80
Figures covering most of the European countries and the UK show that from
January lst through August/September these countries imported 4,?63,000
bushels of linseed and 218,696,000 pounds of linseed oil, compared with
6,918,000 bushels and 216,933,000 pounds for the same period a year ago.
