The construction of the largest single industrial project of Albania began in
1949, the Cerrick (or Cerzic) refinery near Tirana, with a planned annual
capacity of 150 thousand metric tone, was finished during the fall of 1954.
It is at present being outfitted with Soviet, Rumanian and German (Soviet
Zone) equipment. A pipeline from the major field at Pokor was also finished
last year, as was a refinery-owned electric plant.
? Reports from Tirana indicate that the crude production of Albania is still
below this refining capacity. Crude from Rumania is therefore expected to be
refined there, after the plant is finished late in 1956.
