Libya, Neutral Zone, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Syria. In April 1979 Egypt was suspended from OAPEC membership. For consistency
Egyptian crude oil production will, however, continue to be included in the OAPEC total.

' Installed capacity, also called nameplate or design capacity, includes all aspects of crude oil production,
processing, transportation, and storage. Installed capacity is generally the highest capacity estimate.
2 Maximum sustainable or operational capacity is the maximum production rate that can be sustained
for several months; it considers the experience of operating the total system and is generally some 90-
95 percent of installed capacity. This capacity concept does not necessarily reflect the maximum production
rate sustainable without damage to the fields.
9 Available or allowable capacity reflects production ceilings applied by Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Iran, and
Saudi Arabia. These ceilings usually represent a constraint only on annual average output, and thus pro-
duction may exceed the ceilings in a given month.
