MEMORANDUM FOR THE DIRECTOR, CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE GROUP:
SUBJECT: Secure Teletype Communications Between the State Department
and Current Section* C.I.G., The Pentagon
1. Pursuant to the request made in your memorandum of 14 February
1946, subject as above, tentative arrangements have been made to have the
Chief Signal Officer, in coordination with the Chief, Army Security Agency,
install secure teletypewriter communication facilities between the State
Department and the Pentagon Building for use of the Central Intelligence
Group. Upon receipt of authoritative notification from the State Depart-
ment of where in the State Department the terminal equipment of such
facilities is to be located, I will instruct the Chief Signal Officer
to accomplish the installation.
2. Details relative to the type of equipment to be utilized,
security of the location where it is to be installed, training of
C.I.G. personnel, and similar matters can be worked out by personnel on
the working levels of your office, the Military Intelligence Division,
Office Chief Signal Officer, and State Department. The representative
of the Military Intelligence Division in this matter will be It. Colonel
