1. SIGNIFICANCE:
THIS IS THE FIRST OBSERVATION OF TANKS LOCATED IN THE DONG HOI AREA IN
RECENT YEARS.
2. LOCATION:
THE ARMOR ACTIVITY IS LOCATED 6.7 NM WEST OF DONG HOI, AT UTM XE603313.
3. BACKGROUND:
SINCE THE LIMITED BOMBING HALT OF 1 APRIL 1968 AND THE CESSATION OF BOMBING
ON 1 NOVEMBER 1968, AN INCREASED AMOUNT OF TANK ACTIVITY HAS BEEN OBSERVED THROUGH-
OUT NORTH VIETNAM.
4. MISSION READOUT:
REVEALS ONE PROBABLE T-34 TANK, 25X1
FOUR PROBABLE PT-76 TANKS, ONE POSSIBLE SU-76 ASSAULT GUN, ONE TANK RECOVERY VEHICLE
AND ONE POSSIBLE TANK RECOVERY VEHICLE PARKED IN FIELDS ADJACENT TO AN UNNUMBERED
ROUTE AT UTM XE603313. A POSSIBLE SUPPORT AREA, IMMEDIATELY NORTH OF THE TANKS,
CONTAINS A POSSIBLE BARRACKS BUILDING AND FOUR POSSIBLE VEHICLE MAINTENANCE SHEDS.
