SUBJECT: Worldwide Intelligence Wrap-Up Briefing for
Senate Appropriations Defense Subcommittee (U)
1. Action Requested: None; for your information only. (U)
2. Background: You are scheduled to brief the Senate
AppropriatiDons Defense Subcommittee on Tuesday, 20 February 1979.
This is the annual Worldwide Intelligence Wrap-Up briefing which
has traditionally preceded the Subcommittee's activities with the
NFIP Budget. The briefing is scheduled from 10:30-12:30 in
Room 1223 Dirksen Senate Office Building. The room will be swept
prior to the briefing. Office of Security technicians will provide
electronic monitoring during the briefing. The briefing will be
at the Codeword level. Staffers in attendance will be: (C)

attached. Note that Senators Inouye and Garn, of the Appropriations
Committee, also serve on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.
Another interesting overlap is Senator Bellmon who serves on the
Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. You recently hosted
Senator Bellmon and a small delegation of Republican members of the
Senate Energy Committee for a briefing at Headquarters on the Impact
of the Iran Situation on World Energy. That briefing preceded by
three days the fall of the Bakhtiar regime. (U)
