SUBJECT: Participation on a Panel on China
1. On 14 October Bill Whitson, an old friend who cur-
rently works for Congressional Research Service, phoned me
and asked me to participate in a three-man panel on 22 Octo-
ber concerned with current events in China. Whitson will be
one panel member and the other will. probably be chosen from
academia. The audience will consist of Congressional
staffers, academics, think tankers and a sprinkling of
government officials. It will be held at the Library of
Congress and will last about two hours.
2. I have agreed to participate and will confine my STATINTL
remarks to unclassified material.
