THROUGH : Deputy Director for Support 16 DEC 1966
SUBJECT : President's Letter on Leaks of Sensitive
Information
1. This memorandum suggests action on the part of the
Director; such action is contained in paragraph 4.
2. Attached is a memorandum to the President for the
Director's signature. The memorandum has been coordinated with
each Deputy Directorate, the General Counsel, and the Acting
Director of Logistics, all of whom have given approval in substance.
Because of the time limitation, their signatures for concurrence
were not obtained.
3. The Deputy Director for Science and Technology was of
the opinion that the memorandum should take a harder line to indicate
to the President that the many leaks to public information media have
cost the Agency millions of dollars and have reduced the effectiveness
of our collection efforts.
4. It is suggested that you sign the attached memorandum.
