(2) Equipment Loans
Occasionally (approximately 6 - 12
times each year) TSD receives a request for
loan of equipment. Again the requests are
from USIB agencies, and equipment is normally
requested for a specific purpose and duration.
Recent examples of equipment loan are the
following:
(a) On 3 June 1974 the Secret
Service requested loan of six 25X1A
units to be used in support o
resident Nixon's trip to the Middle
East in late June; in May 1974 the
ed loan of one 25X1A
detector to assist in some
analysis being conducted in their own
laboratories. Incidentally both of
these loans were made only after
specific approval from the Director
of Security who had coordinated the
matter with the Inspector General and
perhaps the DD/M&S.

Again, primarily through the TSCC and
its Subcommittee structure there is a con-
tinuous exchange of information relative
25X1A to As
a matter of fact the R&D Subcommittee is
seriously addressing the technological
threat at this writing, and obviously it
behooves each Agency to be frank and
candid in that forum.
