Approved For Rele 2000/09/02 :CIA-RDP83B00a3R000100140029-1 DIRECTORATE: Management and Services COMPONENT : Office of Security In 1967, the Director of Security agreed to a request from Director, Armed Forces Courier Service to participate in the then newly organized training program for Armed Forces Couriers. This was initially understood to be a one-time presentation. The assignment was given to the Office of Security Executive Staff. The title of the lecture presented was "The Soviet Courier System." The ARFCOS Courier School evolved into a formalized program in which all military courier personnel are required to participate before assuming their assignments. CIA's par- ticipation as a continuing part of the course was presumed by ARFCOS and the OS Executive Staff made regular presenta- tions until*1968. Since April 1968 the presentations have been conducted by OS Training Branch. The presentations are given on the average of twice a month between April and December of each year. Activity and Dates: One hour lecture on "The Soviet Courier rvictwice monthly, April through December. Location: Forrestal Building, Washington, D.C., Room X092.
